In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers succeeded in manned flight with a hot-air balloon. In 1891, Lilienthal succeeded in manned flight with a glider. On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers succeeded in the first manned powered flight with only a 12-horsepower engine over Kitty Hawk Dunes in North Carolina, the United States. About 220 years have passed, and during that time, aircraft technology, including the development of electronic technology, has made major innovations.
